A beautiful grade 2 listed 18th century cottage tucked away in a hidden oasis on the banks of the River Tillingbourne, overlooking the National Trust owned, Shalford Mill. With far reaching views to The Chantries.
Extended in 1961 by The Architect Penelope Adamson the daughter of John Macgregor, the architect responsible for restoring the mill, this cottage has an interesting history: from its links to EH Shepard and Winnie the Pooh, to the quirkiness of The Ferguson’s Gang and their connection to Shalford Mill, let alone the architectural history of the cottage and the mill itself.
Multi-generations of the Macgregor family have lived in both the cottage and the mill, growing up swimming in the river and enjoying the calm, slow-paced lifestyle this magical place has to offer.
The extremely pretty village of Shalford provides shopping for everyday needs along with a railway station, post office, village shop, chemist, two pubs, coffee shop, tennis and cricket club. There is an excellent selection of schools in the area including the highly regarded Shalford Infant and Pre-School. The beautiful surrounding countryside offers wonderful walking, riding and cycling opportunities.
The county town of Guildford is 1.5 miles away, with its quaint cobbled High Street and picturesque riverside scenes. Guildford offer excellent shopping with three covered shopping centres, restaurants, and recreational activities.
